Snap windows by dragging
Use edge regions or a layout picker at the top of the screen while dragging a window.
Choose a snapping mode
In Window Management → Window Snap, check that snapping is enabled and select its UI mode.
| Mode | How it works | What to configure |
|---|---|---|
| Edge | Drag into a configured screen-edge region. | Trigger regions and placement actions |
| Top HUD | Choose an arrangement from a top slot while dragging. | Slot actions and order |
Apply your first snap
Check the action and region
In Edge mode, select an action and define its trigger region. In Top HUD mode, add the slots you want to use.
Save your changes
If there are unsaved changes, choose Save. Edge regions must not overlap.
Drag the window into place
Drag a normal window by its title bar into a configured region or top slot. Check the destination preview before releasing the window.
Trigger regions are not destination areas
An edge trigger region determines where dragging activates an action. The selected placement action determines the window’s final position and size. Enlarging a trigger region does not enlarge the resulting window.
- Select the action in Edge mode.
- Move and resize its trigger region in the editor.
- Use the on-screen preview option to check the final destination. Press Esc to close the preview.
- Check for overlapping regions and save.
Add and reorder Top HUD slots
The Top HUD is a layout picker that appears at the top of the screen while dragging. Add an action to the slot list, then drag rows or use the move-up and move-down controls to reorder them. Remove slots you do not need.
Preview the selected slot’s destination and save. If a custom layout is unavailable, check that the source layout still exists and that Pro access is available. Removing a HUD slot is different from deleting the source custom layout.
If saving or snapping does not work
| Situation | Check |
|---|---|
| Unsaved changes | Save to apply the edited configuration. |
| Overlapping snap regions | Make the trigger regions non-overlapping before saving. |
| No response while dragging | Check enablement, the modifier-key requirement, and app exclusions. |
| No connected display found | Check monitor connections and recheck displays. |
Check the option to disable native macOS tiling and use Corral Window Snap if the two conflict. It changes local system settings, not profile or server-sync data. If the system changes fail, Window Snap remains off.
Check monitors and other window managers
Choose the shared configuration to use the same setup across displays. Per-monitor configurations and custom-layout candidates are available with Pro.
FancyZones can conflict with Corral. Disable it or quit PowerToys before using Corral snapping.
