Working with windowsWindow Management → Layouts

Create a custom layout

Draw an area for one window and reuse it with a shortcut.

User guidemacOS · Windows

Choose the active monitor and grid profile first

Choose Add layout in Window Management → Layouts. First check the active monitor and grid profile in the editor. Corral recommends a profile for the monitor, and you can also choose one manually.

The default grid is 12×12, ultrawide is 24×12, and super-ultrawide is 36×12. These grids divide the screen proportionally; they are not fields for entering a window’s pixel dimensions.

Choose the profile before drawing

Changing the grid profile clears the current areas instead of converting them.

Draw an area and save it

  1. Name the layout

Enter a name that explains its purpose, such as “Reference on the right.”

  2. Draw on the empty grid

Drag an empty space to create the area. Drag inside it to move it, or drag an edge to resize it. Editing snaps in 0.1 grid-unit increments.

  3. Check the shortcut and final area

Confirm the position and size, assign a shortcut, and save.

Redraw clears the current area.

Apply it to a real window

Select a normal window on the monitor for which you created the layout and press its shortcut. Check that it moves into the edited area. If nothing happens, check the current profile, shortcut, and window-placement exclusion list.

Check grid-profile compatibility before using it on another monitor.

Editing, locking, and deleting are different

Edit an existing layout to change its name and area. If it is marked locked or read-only, check your Pro access. Losing Pro access preserves locked layout data.

Before deleting a custom layout, check whether Window Snap uses it as a candidate. Without its source layout, that candidate cannot be used normally. Built-in layouts cannot be deleted.

If you cannot save or apply the layout

NoticeWhat to do
Check the layout name and areaReview both and save again.
Areas overlapAdjust the current area so it does not overlap fixed regions.
Grid profile differs from the target monitorUse a compatible monitor or create an area for the correct grid profile.
Free limit reachedEdit your existing custom layout or check Pro access.

Custom-layout snap candidates and per-monitor snapping are Pro features. Connect them in Window Snap settings.
