Learn how to get the most out of Corral.
Getting Started
Download Corral from the App Store (macOS) or Microsoft Store (Windows) and launch it. Corral runs in the background — access it from the menu bar (macOS) or system tray (Windows). On first launch, grant accessibility permissions when prompted.
Keyboard Shortcuts
Corral is entirely keyboard-driven. Open settings to view and customize shortcuts for all 11 presets, window actions, undo/redo, snapshots, and swap. Shortcuts are organized by category: Presets, State & Placement, History, Swap, and Snapshots.
Window Presets
11 built-in presets: left/right/top/bottom halves, left/center/right thirds, four quarters, center, and maximize. Each preset has a dedicated shortcut. You can also create unlimited custom presets using the 12×12 grid editor.
Undo / Redo
Every window position change is recorded automatically. Press the undo shortcut to step back, redo to step forward. You can exclude specific apps from history tracking (e.g., Finder) for manual drag movements. Free plan: 3 per window. Pro: unlimited.
Sticky Resize
When enabled, resizing a tiled window automatically adjusts its neighbors to stay aligned. Detects shared edges within 2–6px tolerance. Choose how shared edges are shown — a center marker or bars on both edges — and turn on a split-ratio ruler on high-DPI monitors. Options include corner (diagonal) resize and a modifier-hold lock so it only acts while you hold a chosen key. All options live under Preferences → Sticky Resize.
Layout Snapshots
Capture your current multi-window arrangement across all monitors into a named slot. Restore it anytime — every window returns to the monitor it was captured on. Positions are stored as relative coordinates, so layouts stay stable even when resolution or display scale changes. Edit saved snapshots with the grid editor.
Workspaces
A workspace captures your entire multi-monitor window arrangement in one shot and restores it together. Each window returns to its original monitor, and restores are tracked in a history you can step back through. Free plan: 1 saved workspace. Pro: unlimited.
Custom Layouts
Design custom window zones on a 12×12 grid with 0.1-unit snap precision. Drag to create zones, resize by dragging edges. Save as presets with their own keyboard shortcuts for instant application.
Window Swap
Swap the positions of two visible windows instantly with a single shortcut. No dragging needed.
Smart Fullscreen (Windows)
On Windows, Corral replaces the default title bar maximize behavior. Double-clicking the title bar enters Corral fullscreen — you can still move and rearrange windows freely. Supports administrator mode for managing elevated windows like Task Manager.
Cloud Sync
Sign in to sync your settings and shortcuts across all your devices. Supports automatic and manual sync with conflict resolution. Sync scope includes general settings and keyboard shortcuts.
Status Overlay
Corral shows a native status overlay on both macOS and Windows during snap and restore actions, so you always know what is happening. The overlay never takes focus away from the window you are working in.
Preset Exclusion
Some apps (games, fullscreen apps, background utilities) should not be rearranged. Corral keeps a workspace-wide exclusion list and a separate per-preset exclusion list, both editable in Preferences on top of a system base list. Toggle exclusion per app or temporarily disable presets with a shortcut.
